Biography

Red Couch Recordings began many years ago in the mind of Kevin Pooler. Music has always been his passion and bringing talented friends and networks of people together has always been his vision for the future of music.

In 1997, Kevin Pooler received a Mackie mixer and Boss sampler as a gift. He put aside piano practice to explore the world of sampling, mixing, and musical arrangement. Soon thereafter, he was writing music for local hip hop/electronic groups in Sacramento, California. He continued writing music with an 8-track Roland synthesizer, all the while learning the ways of computer music creation.

While studying recording arts at Sacramento City College, Kevin began collaborating with Adam Saake, a local artist, drummer and long-time friend. The dynamic live-electronic duo known as Shotgun Sound created edgy-electronic music that resembled the Chemical Brothers or Massive Attack, as noted by The Sacramento Bee. Their debut album, Waves, came with high regard from their local fan base, and Shotgun Sound continued to perform around California. Kevin moved to San Francisco to study electronic music and composition at San Francisco State under Josh Levine and Ronald Caltabiano. These composers and teachers added breadth and continuity to Kevin's musical style.

In 2007, Kevin moved to Toronto to pursue music, life and love. Now, the clear vision of creating a musical community and network of artists has reached fruition. Red Couch Recordings is Kevin's primary focus. Networking talented individuals from all over North America to complete music projects for these artists in need of a voice has become Kevin's goal.

As of today, Kevin Pooler's skill set includes composing electronic and aleotaric music, recording/mxing bands, playing keyboards, audio engineering and mastering. All this is accompanied and contributed to by his team of session instrumentalists, audio engineers and cutting edge composers to provide musical services to the public.
